A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth, or to protect a damaged tooth surface. Laminate veneers, are extremely versatile and can be used to align crowded or protruding teeth, lighten tooth colour, close gaps and can also be used as an alternative for orthodontic treatment. Because the veneer is so thin and contains no metal they have a translucent quality which means that they give a natural looking tooth, this natural look is also true under flourescent lighting and in flash photography.
Overview
Laminate veneers are a rapid, aesthetic, and safe way to correct unattractive front teeth. Porcelain laminate veneers correct heavy permanent stains, teeth that are crooked, disproportionate, small (with spaces), and structurally damaged. Laminate veneers are shells of ceramic material that can be chemically bonded to tooth structure. They are mostly used Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures or also sometimes called as "Hollywood Smile".
Procedure
First shaving a thin layer of outer tooth structure. An impression is then taken of the prepared teeth and is sent to our dental laboratory where the ceramist will make a very thin porcelain facing. The second visit consists of the laminate veneers being bonded to the prepared teeth. The bonding material is applied with a white light gun. This bonding material acts as an adhesive for the laminates.
